CARTWRIGHT, Peter Reverend 71 yrs. an effective Methodist Preacher. 50 yrs. of this time as presiding elder. Born in Amherst Co., Va., September 1, 1785. Died at Home in Sang. Co., Ill., September 25, 1872, Age 87 yrs. His first sermon Isa. 26:4 Trust ye in the Lord forever; for the Lord Jehomah is everlasting strength. Servant of God, well done Thy Glorious warfare is past; Thy battle fought; the race is won. And Thou art crowned at last. FRANCES, Wife Of Rev Peter CARTWRIGHT Born August 18, 1789 in the state of Va. Died February 7, 1876. Age 86 yrs. 6m. 20d. Tis done: With full salvation bless redemption through thy blood I have and spotless love and peace. Rev Peter Cartwright, D. D., died Sept. 25, 1872, and Frances died Feb. 7, 1876, both near Pleasant Plains, Sangamon county, where they settled in 1824. Mr. Cartwright had been a member of the M. E.
