William Findley (Veteran) unknown - unknown William (Bill) Oscar Findley, 63, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by family and close friends. He was born July12, 1947, in West Plains, a son of Rudy F. and Stella (Lovan) Findley. He was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson City High School. On August 5, 1979, Bill was united in marriage with Katherine (Katie) Ann Phelps Oetting, who survives at their home. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. military, serving in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969 and the United States Army from 1971 to 1979, where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Leonard Wood. He worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1979-1981, then served with the Missouri National Guard from 1981 until his retirement in 1994. Following retirement, Bill went back to work for the National Guard, working for Joint Force Headquarters from 1994-2009
