Andrew Jackson Mayes, son of the late Amanda and Andrew Jackson Mayes, was born Feb. 21, 1886, near Pilot Knob, Mo., and departed this life in the Bonne Terre Hospital, Tuesday, February 23, 1943, at the age of 57 years 2 days. Death was due to a skull fracture, caused from falling timber. On January 6, 1909 he was united in marriage to Savannah Mae Olive and to this union were born eleven children, two sons preceding him in death. Surviving are his wife, seven daughters and two sons: (Bertha) Mrs. L. A. Twomey of Bismarck; (Minnie) Mrs. Charles Byers of Elvins; (Julia) Mrs. Sidney Barton of Bismarck; Clark Mayes of St. Louis; Harlon Mayes, Victorville, Calif., who is serving his country in the U.S. Army; (Gladys) Mrs. John Rayfield of Annapolis, Mo.; Bessie, Ruby and Mary at home in Annapolis. He also leaves to mourn his passing, eleven grandchildren, four sisters and a host of other relatives and many friends....
