Birth: unknown Virginia, USA Death: unknown Mariposa County California, USA Tom Nutter came first to California with a wagon train in the 1880's. He must have returned to West Virginia as he married there and came west again with his family some time after the birth of their last child in 1895. there are two land patents recorded in Mariposa County by W.T. Nutter on June 14, 1897 so I am thinking this is near the date they came. I am sure these patents are what is now known as the Nutter Ranch. The Nutter Ranch is now a subdivision off what is now called Highway 49 South at Kemble Road East of the Chowchilla River and at the base of Miami Mountain. His grave is unmarked.
